Meet Dr. Nandi

SUMON NANDI, MD, MBA, FACS, FAOA

Board-Certified Specialist in Hip and Knee Replacement

Dr. Nandi believes in patient-focused care, where time with patients and bedside manner are as important as exceptional surgical results.  He earned his medical degree with honors at the New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and was selected for the renowned Cloisters Research Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  Dr. Nandi then completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and pursued a fellowship in total joint reconstruction at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA, an institution where hip and knee replacements were pioneered.

In 2013, Dr. Nandi was selected by the Hip Society as one of only four outstanding joint replacement surgeons from around the world to be awarded the prestigious Rothman-Ranawat Traveling Fellowship.  In 2016, he was one of just five orthopaedic surgeons in the country, selected across all specialties, to be awarded a traveling fellowship by the American Orthopaedic Association, the premier leadership organization in orthopaedic surgery.  In 2021, Dr. Nandi was one of four distinguished knee surgeons worldwide to be named a Knee Society Insall Traveling Fellow.

Dr. Nandi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Association, as well as the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is an active clinician educator and researcher with more than 200 publications and presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.

Dr. Nandi is excited to care for patients in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia, where he strives to provide the highest quality care at WVU Orthopaedics.  He has a special interest in rapid recovery hip and knee replacement surgery.
